Lady Gaga Was Supposed to Have Gay Sex in House of Gucci

That table-top office romp was simply not enough.

Straight sex is never camp. Such is my understanding, it’s always a mundane experience: two figures settling for the bare minimum effort, thrusting aimlessly towards each other until one person is mildly satisfied and the other is just glad the whole boring ordeal is over. There is only one exception, and of course, it features Lady Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani, her scene-stealing, maybe Oscar-winning performance in House of Gucci. Yep, as we delve into the honeymoon stages of her relationship with the semi-aloof Maurizio Gucci, we watch Patrizia call Maurizio to the office of the Reggiani Trucking Company and proceed to get shagged silly, an incredibly over the top scene in an already over the top film. Not even Jared Leto doing Mario cosplay could top it. But it’s transpired that Gaga was actually supposed to fuck more in House of Gucci. Not only that, but the affair was meant to be a gay one, occuring with Salma Hayek’s spiritual medium character, Pina Auriemma.

“There is a whole side of this film that you did not see,” Gaga told an audience at an award’s screening, “[one in which] Pina and I developed a sexual relationship.” The idea was purely hypothetical, not rooted in truth, and seemed to be Gaga’s idea. She recalls turning to Salma and Ridley Scott, the film’s director, and proposing: “Maybe after Maurizio dies,” Gaga says, “it gets hot?”

“You think she’s kidding!” Salma says in response to a laughing audience. Gaga then alluded to the fact that, not only was that conversation had, but that these scenes were shot too, proposing the idea of an extended or a director’s cut. Ridley himself has already expressed a desire to do it. Speaking last year to the ReelBlend podcast, he suggested that he eventually wants to release a new version for home release: “It won’t be a director’s cut,” he said. “It will be a long cut.”
