Uoma Beauty made a splash in the beauty industry when it launched at Ulta Beauty last year. Championing diversity in a uniquely authentic way, founder Sharon Chuter looks to her culture and community to develop her products. Look at the extensive foundation shade range formulated to cater to your skin type and tone or the Brow-Fro collection that takes inspiration from '70s Black beauty trends. And now, with the new limited-edition Black Magic Carnival Collection, Chuter wants to bring the beauty of Carnival to you.
Those who participate in Carnival do not shy away from color or drama, wearing huge, feathered costumes in every shade of the rainbow. If the Carnival influence isn't apparent from the shades named after locations where the celebration occurs, then it's blatantly clear from how bold and sparkly the collection is. In it, you'll find eight different products to add shimmer and vibrance to your makeup look.
The Black Magic Carnival Color Palette comes with 10 different shades, five shimmer options and five matte hues for you to play with. Joining the palette are two glitter lipsticks, Bahia and Trinidad; Bahia is a deep burgundy with flecks of gold glitter, while Trinidad is an in-your-face hot pink with blue flecks of glitter.
The shine doesn't end there. Notting Hill and Barbados serve as the Face and Body Bronzing Highlighters so you can glow from head to toe; Notting Hill is a rose gold while Barbados is a deeper bronze. To finish off, there are not one, not two, but four different styles of false lashes. Trinidad is a voluminous purple mixed with black fibers; Rio, on the other hand, is longer and wispier, with studs right along the base. Bahia may be the wildest of the bunch, coming with two different styles of lashes. While one is what some would consider an everyday lash, the other brings the drama with a triple-layer, feather-like lash featuring green and blue strands and crystals along the base.
My absolute favorites from this collection are the Barbados Bronzing Highlighter and the Trinidad lashes. If you know me, you know I love a bold highlight, and the Barbados highlighter is the definition of pigmented — you will see me rubbing this shade all over my body this summer, for sure.
Even if you're not attending Carnival, you need these products ASAP. Get them at uomabeauty.com, for $16 to $44, before they sell out.
