It is always a good day when you fall in love with a skin treatment that shows super-positive results without much effort at all. Trying this green tea powder mask will totally transform your skin and require very little effort on your part.

The Health Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea has many health benefits. It is a great alternative for people who do not like coffee but still want to reap the positive benefits, since green tea has less caffeine than coffee but still enough to keep you focused and awake. Green tea might also help ward off certain types of cancer and heart disease, control weight and keep your mouth healthy. Regular consumption has even been shown to have some positive benefits in bone health. In addition, green tea has been shown to help preserve brain function. How much green tea you need to drink each day in order to experience the benefits described is still being researched.

How Green Tea Can Help Our Skin

Green tea can benefit your skin both when you drink it and when you apply topical products containing the ingredient. Green tea is rich in antioxidants, specifically ones called EGCGs, which protect the skin from inflammation and skin aging, and calms skin prone to redness. Most skin care products that utilize green tea contain a green tea extract like Madre Labs Camellia Care Concentrated Green Tea Skin Cream ($23) or Once Upon a Tea Green Tea Matcha Mud Mask ($16).

As mentioned, green tea is chock full of antioxidants which means it can calm skin inflammation. Acne is a sign of inflammation in the skin so using a skin care product with green tea in it will help to calm acne-prone skin. All skin types may benefit from drinking green tea or using green tea skin care products, even those with the most sensitive skin.

If you don't want to spend money on a skin care product formulated with green tea, experiment by making your own mask. It's affordable and simple, requiring just two ingredients. Take one scoop of a green tea powder (about 1 tsp) with enough water to make it into a mask-like consistency. Use a matcha green tea powder like Kiss Me Organics Matcha Green Tea Powder ($13) since products labelled as such are processed in such a way that they may retain even more antioxidants than other types of green tea. Matcha is also a great green tea to drink since it has a unique taste.

How to Use it: Apply to your face, neck and chest area with a wide brush. It takes about five minutes to completely dry. Leave on for about 10 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water.

Variations: Mix honey or yogurt to the green-tea powder for added moisture. Additionally, if you have regular green tea on hand, you can make a mask using that too. Take the green tea out of a tea bags and mix with honey and a little baking soda. This mask is also said to help clear up acne.

Noticeable Results: Your skin should be quite smooth after this treatment. Consider using this mask as a spot treatment for breakouts, especially if you're on the sensitive side. You could even apply the mask on your pimples before bed and rinse off in the morning.
