How 7 Male Models Get Their Skin Looking so Good

Here at ishonest HQ, we're always taking notes when stunners like Gigi Hadid and Ashley Graham spill their skincare secrets, holy grail products, and must-have vitamins. But, we wanted to build our beauty tip rolodex and find out just how male models get their faces looking flawless and their minds and bodies runway ready.

I have a little insight into the world of male models—I spent five seasons as a casting assistant for the Versace shows during men's fashion week in Milan. Admittedly, I learned that their approach to beauty was decidedly more laid back than I anticipated.

Alas, male models definitely have a few tricks up their sleeves when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle and getting clear skin before the catwalk. We reached out to some of the former Versace boys to see what beauty practices help get and keep them photo ready. To be transparent, the term "beauty routine" had some of the men confused, so we broke the idea down to skincare, grooming, and fitness. They offered up advice that was strikingly streamlined and simple. Head below to see how these male models stay photo-ready with their health related tips, tricks, and straightforward beauty routines.

Terence Telle

"I use either Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($49) and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Moisturizer ($32). I used to swim a lot, which made my skin really dry."

John James Todd

"I've been trying different methods to put weight on, so I've just started doing push-ups every morning followed by granola to try and get my body more used to more food intake."

Henry Watkins

"There's no smoke and mirrors to looking your best. Keep it simple: drink your water, get your rest, take your vitamins. I can always tell when someone does a lot of yoga, because of the presence, purity, and awareness in their eyes. The vibe you end up giving off is radiant and makes you stand out."

Ryan Barett

"Well, the two main products I swear by are Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($49), which I love. It really hydrates the skin and softens it lovely ready for a fresh start! The other is Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap ($16). This is a big travel companion for me—I take it on every flight. It's great for a deep clean and taking makeup off. Before any shoot, I try to go for a swim and a steam room the day before to help relax me and refresh my body, giving me a great night sleep and looking great the next day (hopefully)!"

Daan van der Deen

"Some hacks I have are shaving after the steam room or after a hot shower—keep the razors hot from the water. Drink enough water. After a shower or before leaving the house, I always clean my face with cold water so the pores close up and no dirty NYC air can touch it. I also try to avoid milk products, sugar, and processed meat. I would only eat meat like once a week (grass-fed, etc). Don't drink too much caffeine because it drys out your skin—or keep in balance with drinking extra water. Enough sleep. That's about it."

Xander Evitts

"Nothing is more potent at naturally healing your body than sleep—and it's free. A good sleeping routine is the difference between crashing on day three of fashion week and smashing your way through week three."

Veit Couturier

"You wouldn't believe how quick and easy it is for me."
