Like many of you, I've been using this whole quarantine situation as an excuse to give my skin a serious breather. In other words, I've maybe worn face makeup a total of two or three times in the last month and a half — and I have zero regrets. When I have felt compelled to clean up a little for Zoom meetings, I've been reaching for one of my longstanding, favorite, non-foundation foundations: Glossier's Perfecting Skin Tint.
I've actually had the sheer skin enhancer in my collection for quite some time, though until recently I'd been using more medium-to-full coverage tinted moisturizers and foundations to conceal the stubborn facial redness I struggle with. However, since my skin has been in a happier state recently (likely due to wearing less makeup and doing more face masks), I've found myself reaching for my Glossier tint every time I want a hint of coverage. And I really mean just a hint, folks. Perfecting Skin Tint is by no means a foundation — or a tinted moisturizer. No, it's more a very lightly tinted serum that evens out the skin without concealing it. And that's exactly what I love so much.
Another bonus: Because it's so lightweight and hydrating, it never gets stuck in dry patches, which has been a problem for me with similar products on the market. This is probably because it contains skin-loving ingredients like glycerin and castor seed oil, which nourish the skin and create a dewy effect. Speaking of which, it does leave your skin super glowy, so if you're on the oilier side it might not be your jam. On the flip side, for anyone with dry, sensitive skin like moi, it's a godsend. It never bothers my easily irritated skin and it tames redness quickly and seamlessly.
Application-wise, I simply dispense it straight from the bottle and then blend it out with a slightly damp beauty sponge. This is what works for me, but you could definitely just use your digits, or a stippling brush, like this one from E.L.F., would get the job done too. Of the 12 shades, I've found G9, a warm, light-medium hue, works best for me, but I could also get away with G8 and G10 because the tint is so sheer.
Whenever I'm wearing the Glossier skin tint and get compliments, it feels especially good since I know it still looks like my skin — just slightly enhanced. So if you like products that let your real skin shine through, definitely consider picking up Glossier's Perfecting Skin Tint.
