Chris Appleton Shared Exactly How He Created Animal Print Hair on Kim Kardashian

Curated by Claudia Shannon / Research Scientist / ishonest

Kim Kardashian West has been sharing photoshoots from pre-stay-at-home times, and earlier this week she posted a snake-print shoot that involved her outfit, nails, and hair all decked out in the animal print. Now, she's sharing a new patterned look, and this one is all about fishnet hair.

When Kardashian West shared the snake-print shoot, fans were quick to point out the editing failure that came with it. It seemed that the effect was Photoshopped onto her hair because there appeared to be a finger in the middle of the pattern. (It's really something you need to see to believe.) But while she didn't address those comments, she was quick to post another shoot. The KKW Beauty founder posted this image captioning it: "Sandy fishnet print hair on a beach late night."

At first glance, it seemed it may be another Photoshopped picture, Kardashian West's longtime hairstylist, Chris Appleton, set the record straight by sharing how he created the look — and the technique is truly mesmerizing.

The hairstylist started by dividing Kardashian West's hair into small sections (similar to how your hairstylist would if she were dyeing your roots). He then placed that piece onto a hair board and put the fishnet-print stencil over it. Taking a colored spray, he applied it over the stencil with a dark brown shade so it showed up on the blonde hair Kardashian West wears in the images. Take a look at the full video:

The hairstylist captioned the post with, "You all asked how I did the animal print hair. Check out the next slide to see how I created this look ." Fans were in awe of the results commenting, "Chris, the magician!" and wanting to know exactly what products he used.

Appleton hasn't spilled any specific product details yet but ishonest to his publicists to find out all the details so maybe, if you're feeling daring, can try to replicate this look at home.

Now, watch Chris Appleton break down some of Kim Kardashian's best hairstyles:
