Beauty Products and Rituals The Crazy Rich Asians Cast Swears By IRL

Curated by Claudia Shannon / Research Scientist / ishonest

It’s been a hot second since a movie's entire female cast entranced us. And yet, here we are, utterly obsessed with Crazy Rich Asians and the film's unequivocally stunning and talented group of leading and supporting ladies. The cast isn't just beguiling on-camera. Throughout the red carpet season, these stunning ladies have served up some major beauty moments that have kept us inspired. For photographic evidence that will inspire you to take your beauty MO up a notch, just check out these majestic snapshots from the CRA premiere in L.A. And, we're still not okay.

Michelle Yeoh

As reported a few years back by Stylist, the ageless Michelle Yeoh (who plays Eleanor Young in the film) apparently swears by this creamy (and very covetable) moisturizer from Guerlain. An investment, yes, but we're also convinced the elixir just might be the fountain of youth thanks to the power of orchids, which hydrate and plump up dry skin.

Jing Lusi

Due to her line of work, Jing Lusi (aka Amanda Ling, if you still have the film in your head) is often heavily made up. And while a perpetual glam team and a super-pretty application of makeup sound rather idyllic, it can do a number on an actor's skin.

In real life, Lusi likes to keep her makeup routine simple. "BareMinerals Original Foundation is great, and you don’t feel too bad wearing it for long stretches. It’s light and it lets your skin breathe," she explained to Express.

When she's off duty, Lusi will add a pop of color to her low-key beauty vibe. "I also use Nars lip pencils—the brighter, the better," she tells the outlet. Try the shade Dragon Girl, an attention-grabbing red lip liner that has a velvet matte finish.

And as for scent, old habits die hard. "I like to change perfumes," she told the publication. "But I always come back to Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue, which I wore at university. They say that sense of smell is strongly linked to memory, so perhaps it reminds me of some great times."

Gemma Chan

"I think it's nice to give your skin a break," Gemma Chan told Huffington Post UK. "Especially at the moment as I am having to wear a lot heavier makeup than I normally would, so I have to be extra disciplined about making sure to take everything off at night.

"I think it's really important to take care of my skin. Eve Lom does amazing cleansers, which I've been using for an extra bit of pampering in the winter."

"I usually wear my hair down," she admitted to the publication. "Mostly because I haven't had enough time to do anything more interesting with it."

"I like to keep it in good condition. I found this fabulous shampoo and conditioner recently from a brand called Pureology. It's sulfate-free, which is really good if your hair is dry or colored."

"Another wonderful brand that I've recently discovered is Aesop," she continued. "I've become a bit obsessed with this hand cream they make that just smells delicious. One of the ingredients is Mandarin (orange) rind, and it's really great for protecting your hands in the cold."

Constance Wu

"I shop at Sephora a lot because they're really cool about letting you try things out," Wu told The New York Times. "This was a recommended product there, so I gave it a go and loved it."

"The first time I heard about La Mer was in middle school, and I read that J.Lo used it," she told the publication. "I didn't always use it, but once I started making money, I was like, 'I can actually afford to treat myself.' To me, skin care is a pleasure."

Depending on whether or not she'll be out in the sun, Wu also shared this fan- favorite pick from La-Roche Posay as her number one go-to sunscreen. (Psst! ishonest HQ is also obsessed!)

To ensure she gets off every last trace of makeup after a long day at work, Wu says she loves a thorough double cleanse. This cult-loved oil is the first luxe step before she dabbles in a longtime drugstore favorite next.

Yep! Wu still uses Clearasil within her nightly beauty regimen. "Seriously. I've been using it since I was a teenager," she told The New York Times.

She continues: "And, I'm really into these Alpha Beta peels by Dr. Dennis Gross. If I want to be really glow-y the next day, I definitely use them."

Awkwafina

According to an interview with Today, the star swears by this beloved (and very gentle) cleanser from Dermalogica.

“I truly believe that if you wear makeup a lot, your skin becomes dependent on it. I was a tomboy growing up. I never wore makeup until my 20s. I have really dry skin. I went from using basic CVS-brand face wash but now I use Dermalogica. I like that squeaky-clean feeling.”

"I use this oil from Sisley," the actress told Into the Gloss. "It's incredibly expensive, so I've been using a sample but on set when my skin would get dry they would use it on me and it can sit on foundation."

"I don't mean to brag, but I'm a Sephora VIB now, so I'm a Very Important Bitch," Awkwafina told the publication. "My problem is dry skin. So, on Ocean's 8 the makeup artist introduced me to Clarins. So, I use this day cream."

"I like this foundation from Make Up For Ever," she continued. "It's lightweight. I use a sponge, too." For a flawless finish at home, tap (don't drag) a damp BeautyBlender across your face until the desired coverage is achieved.

"I remember when I was young I used Herbal Essences, and I loved that smell, that brings me back," Awkwafina explained to ITG. "Now I use this shampoo from Bumble and Bumble."

Last, but certainly not least, the actress professed her undying commitment to one dry shampoo and one dry shampoo only.

"I love the one from Living Proof. That stuff is so good! I normally just shower and then spray my hair with the Living Proof and go about my day." To which we say, same.

Victoria Loke

Although she has a relatively small part in Crazy Rich Asians, the masses are already transfixed with dancer, model, and actress Victoria Loke. And lucky for us, she spilled a handful of her must-have beauty loves.

"In the morning and after wet cleansing, I’ll use Bioderma all over my face, just to clean it one more time. Then I'll just add moisturizer," the triple threat tells Into The Gloss.

We could hardly contain our excitement when we found out Loke is also a fan of one team ishonest's favorite under-the-radar skincare lines, Odacité.

"I use this from Odacité. It's a French brand and it's a concentrated facial serum with an oil texture. It's papaya and geranium oil. It's good for getting rid of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks, and generally getting rid of any kind of pigmentation. I use it because I have a lot of PIH from when I used to have hormonal acne when I was in New York," she reveals.

"For blemishes that have already surfaced, I use the Red Algae–infused mask from Osea. It's meant to be used all over the face, but I use it like a spot treatment."

"My favorite powder is the Invisimatte Powder from Fenty Beauty," says Loke. "This is my favorite powder so far that I've used, and I love that it's like a pressed powder." And if you ever struggle with concealer creasing under your eyes, try this hack: Dust the powder lightly under your eyes to help lock it in place.

"My favorite fragrance right now is Tom Ford's Noir de Noir. I love Tom Ford fragrances. I have a huge fragrance collection," she tells ITG. The perfume smells like the perfect blend of florals and earthy scents like patchouli and black truffle.

She's also a fan of MAC Cosmetic's classic lipstick: Russian Red. "I love it. You know how sometimes with red lips, when you eat, it disappears. It looks really gross. But with this one, it stains your lip a bit, so when you eat, you don't get that gross line, and I love the way the color looks on me as well. It's my favorite red lip."

Another cult-favorite lippie, Loke says she loves to layer Dior's iconic plumping gloss over her lipstick.
