Welcome to My Beauty Ritual, a weekly series where editors, experts, and pros reveal the ways in which they use beauty — especially skin care — as a method of self-care. In this week’s installment, aesthetician Sofie Pavitt shares how she's is using skin care to find calmness in a world of uncertainty.

While quarantined at home, New York City-based aesthetician Sofie Pavitt has been giving her skin some extra love and care any chance that she can get. But as a mom with a baby who's also running a business, it's not always easy for her to find the time to indulge in face masks and other luxurious treatments that typically take more than ten minutes. That being said, she's always loyal to her daily routine, which includes five powerhouse products she swears by.

First, she does a thorough cleanse with her favorite drugstore face wash: Neutrogena Naturals' Purifying Facial Cleanser, which she's a fan of because it contains a hint of salicylic acid to deep-clean pores and remove lingering dead skin. Once she's massaged it into her skin for a full minute, she uses a wet muslin cloth to remove it and further gently exfoliate. The second step in Pavitt's routine is to tone. Lately, she's been loving the Circumference Active Botanical Refining Toner, as it contains no alcohol and is rich in antioxidants and hydrating ingredients like panthenol, a form of vitamin B5. She applies it with gauze pads because they don't soak up the product like cotton rounds do, and she finds this gives her better results.

After toning, it's all about serum — specifically, Ole Henrikson's Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum, which she uses to fade stubborn dark spots and protect her skin from free radical damage. It contains 15 percent vitamin C in addition to hyaluronic acid, so it's both super brightening and restorative. For moisturizer, she's been reaching for the AHC Ageless Real Eye Cream for Face, as it was designed with the delicate eye area in mind and is ultra-nourishing on the skin.

Her last step is sunscreen, which she never skips — even while staying inside. Her go-to is iS Clinical's Extreme Protect SPF 30, which is infused with vitamin E and aloe vera to soothe and condition skin as it protects.
